Norman Yee wins a seat in San Francisco Board of Education

Norman Yee, a child advocate and parent, was winning a seat with 95 percent of precincts reporting. Some absentee ballots remained to be counted. Heather Hiles, appointed to a vacant seat in January by Mayor Gavin Newsom, was losing her seat. Four seats on the seven-member board were up for grabs.
