Ling Hwey Jeng appointed TWU's new SLIS Director

The School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Woman's University announces that Dr. Ling Hwey Jeng will be joining the faculty as the Director of the School beginning June 1, 2004. Dr. Jeng joins the TWU faculty as a Full Professor. She is widely published, an elected member of A.L.A. Council, Executive Director of the Asian Pacific American Librarians Association, and recipient of an IMLS grant. Her extensive teaching experience, administrative expertise, and strong focus on the needs of students give added depth to her many leadership abilities. After her recent visit to the School, Dr. Jeng noted, "The school has a solid foundation that serves the library and information needs of the community; the faculty work hard; and both Denton and Houston programs have strong enrollment to show the vitality of the school. The faculty and students make the school a potentially exciting place to be. And I believe that I am able to serve as an energetic force to help the faculty generate new ideas and look to the future with new perspectives."
