Qing Hou and Lang Lang will perform at Chicago Symphony Orchestra

Qing Hou and Lang Lang will perform at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO). This fall the CSO season begins with several weeks of programs, culminating in the Opening Night Gala featuring Tchaikovsky's most famous works. Mozart's enchanting Third Violin Concerto will be performed by violinist Qing Hou on October 2 and 5. She will perform Mozart Symphony No. 9. This concerto shows the classical composer at his most entertaining and inventive. Although Mahler's Ninth Symphony wasn't performed during his lifetime, it is one of the richest and most complex of all his achievements, bridging the gap between 19th-century romanticism and the new elements of modernism.

Lang Lang's performance begins the signature Opening Night Gala. The young superstar pianist Lang Lang will perform Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat Minor, Op. 23 on October 18. Cocktails precede the concert, which will be followed by lavish post-concert festivities at 9 PM. Gala packages include cocktails, premium concert seats, and the post-concert dinner and dancing. The Opening Night Gala is generously sponsored by Morgan Stanley. Additional sponsorship support is provided by The Northern Trust Company, Audi of America, Inc., American Invsco, and Kirkland & Ellis. Media support provided by WBBM Newsradio 780.
