Professor Chen Dong suspended from research

Reports The New York Times (Nov. 20, 2003), Dr. Chen Dong, ,a professor at the University of Washington , has been suspended from research on laboratory animals. It was found that Dr. Dong cut rat tails without using anesthesia in violation of animal protection guidelines. Dr. Dong obtained his B.S. in Cell Biology from Wuhan University, China in 1989 and did his Ph.D thesis with Dr. Max D. Cooper at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Following a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Richard A. Flavell at Yale University, he joined the University of Washington Department of Immunology in November, 2000.
