Asian-American/Pacific Islander students top ACT score in Illinois

About 134,000 2300 Illinois graduating class students took the ACT English, Math, reading and science exams. The ACT is scored on a scale of 1 to 36. Illinois students achieved a composite score of 20.2, a little lower than the national average of 20.8. Asian-American/Pacific Islander students had the highest average score of 22.1, followed by Caucasian 21.6, Mexican-American/Chicano 17.6, Puerto Rican/Hispanic 17.5, American Indian 17.4, and African-American 16.8.
