Thirteen-year-old Michelle Wie of Hawaii overshadowed the world's best women golfers with a remarkable six-under-par 66 in the third round of the $1.6 million at Rancho Mirage, California on Saturday, March 29. Wie picked up six birdies in a flawless performance to surge into third position on four-under 212, four shots adrift of tournament leader Patricia Meunier Lebouc (70) of France and one behind world number one Annika Sorenstam (71) of Sweden. Wie learned golfing when she was four. By the time she was 11, Wei shot a r-over 77 in the final round of the Hawaii Pearl Open in Aiea, Hawaii on February 9, finishing with an 8-over 223 to tie for 43rd place.
