Joanne Lee scored a perfect 1,600 on the SAT

Wrote J.D. Sparks, Bee Staff Writer, on December 19, Joanne Lee of Gold River, a 17-year old senior at Mira Loma High School, earned a perfect 1,600 score on the SAT. Lee wants to follow in her sister's footsteps and study medicine. She has applied to Brown and Northwestern universities, but her No. 1 choice is Harvard. She wants to be closer to her sister, Helen, who is a pre-med student in her senior year. And while many of her peers are lightening their loads in their final year, Lee is taking a full load of core classes such as economics and advanced calculus and is editor of the school yearbook. This month she is finishing her senior thesis -- an advanced research essay -- analyzing her discoveries during the summer at UC Davis Medical Center's Oncology Department. In her down time, she practices for her role as an attorney on her school's mock trial team. (Guy Wong. For a full-text story, refer to http://www.sacbee.com)
